Hi,
Meeting on weds 1 dec 2010
re: Rates Rebate due to Road Works -
I attended the LCC meeting on weds evening at the Regency on Derby Lane. It seems that those in the direct line of road works may be entitled to an automatic 10 - 15% discount on rates for the time the works were in operation. ie not for the whole year's Rates bill.
Those not in the direct line of roadworks (eg Derby Lane, Broadgreen Road etc) will likely have to apply for a refund. The best person to speak to is Andy Owens from the Valuations Office (Tel: 802 1000) who was at the meeting on Weds. I understand that any application for a Rate Rebate MUST be submitted to the Valuations Office before the end of the road works. If in doubt, I suggest you apply or at least phone the Valuations Office to get their view.
I also attach a copy of the newsletter LCC have been delivering today which contains further detail about how to apply for a Rebate
Additional Rate Relief for Small Businesses: Phil Robinson from Revenue Services of LCC pointed out that of the approx 3,000 businesses eligible to apply for rate relief for small businesses, only about 1,700 so far had applied. If you think this may apply to your business, please take a look at the short application form attached. It could be worthwhile; he indicated that not only would those businesses, still to apply, potentially have nothing more to pay in rates until April, some may also be eligible for a cheque refund.
As always, please try to spread the message amongst colleagues in other businesses in Old Swan
Regards, Paul
